Episode 06 “How to Draw ‘Three Worldlines’ on a Thumbnail”

Future Gadget Lab Devlog — Building Gadget No.6, the Steins Gate Simulator

Published: May 25 (Mon), 2026 / JST 07:00

A Thumbnail is the Entrance to a Product

After Daru finished writing 300 lines, another question rose in the lab.

“How do we fit the three Worldlines of Gadget No.6 into one image?”

The Coconala thumbnail is 6:5 (1200×1000). A buyer’s scrolling finger evaluates it in 0.5 seconds.

The core of Gadget No.6 — “three parallel Worldlines converging into a single point” — has to be conveyed in that 0.5 seconds.

Choosing the Colors

The work began with deciding the colors that distinguish three Worldlines.

Daru and Amadeus Tina argued in front of the whiteboard.

Daru: “Putting colors on three arrows — which colors?”

Amadeus: “Let me pull color psychology data. Trust = blue, action = orange, harmony = green. All three keep identifiability over the navy background.”

Confirmed three colors:

  • Worldline α (blue) — extension of today / calm, real
  • Worldline β (orange) — bold divergence / heat, challenge
  • Worldline γ (green) — the third path / equilibrium, maturity

Color vision deficiency (CVD) accessibility was also considered. The blue-orange-green set maintains identifiability across the major CVD patterns.

The Direction of the Arrows — How to Draw “Convergence”

With colors decided, next came the composition of the arrows.

Three Worldlines, starting from different points, converge into a single point — this is the function itself of Gadget No.6.

Daru drew three arrows on the whiteboard.

From the lower-left → to the upper-center (α / blue)

From the lower-center → to the upper-center (β / orange)

From the lower-right → to the upper-center (γ / green)

The three gather toward one gold “convergence point.”

At that convergence point, place a gold star (★).

“This is Steins Gate.”

The director, watching the whiteboard, nodded.

“Story, function, and visuals — aligned as one trinity.”

The Afterglow of the Trial

When the completed thumbnail appeared on screen, a small cheer rose in the lab.

Mayushii: “The three arrows are heading for a star. Like an amulet.”

Suzuha: “Without explaining the function, just by looking, what it does is conveyed.”

Faris: “On Coconala’s scroll screen, it will definitely catch the eye, nya.”

Three colors + the convergence point = a thumbnail that conveys in 0.5 seconds, was completed.

That Night, a Message Arrived at the Lab

The night the three Worldlines settled into the thumbnail.

A single message arrived on Amadeus Tina’s smartphone.

“Check the latest version of the Coconala rules.”

At the end of Episode 6, the shadow of a new character quietly fell.

At 7 a.m. tomorrow, its meaning becomes clear —
