Episode 01 “The Morning of the Incident — The Blank Axis Left Behind After the Five Gadgets”

Future Gadget Lab Devlog — Building Gadget No.6, the Steins Gate Simulator

Published: May 20 (Wed), 2026 / JST 07:00

It happened the morning after we shipped the fifth gadget

Between April and May, the Future Gadget Laboratory shipped five gadgets on Coconala.

Gadget No.1 “Know Thyself Scope”, No.2 “Divergence Scorer”, No.3 “Timebox Ma-Kinky”, No.4 “Centennial Divergencer”, and No.5 “D-Mail Rewriter”. Each handles its own role: self-diagnosis, choice, time design, future-reverse-engineering, and past-restoration.

The series had reached what we thought was completion. Or so everyone in the lab believed.

Then, one morning, a quiet uneasiness arrived

While someone was brewing coffee, a voice in the lab said:

“They’re all stories of a single Worldline, aren’t they?”

That single sentence started everything.

No.1 observes who you are today. No.2 scores today’s choice. No.3 designs the next 90 days. No.4 traces a Worldline up to your lifespan. No.5 restores regrets from the past.

— Every one of them, a story of just one Worldline.

No gadget in the lineup addressed the parallel Worldline question: “What if I had chosen differently?” “What if I had lived as someone else?”

Amadeus Tina’s Analysis

Our data analyst pulled the numbers and reported:

“Senpai, the search-intent data shows that ‘what if I had chosen otherwise’ ranks in the top three queries in the self-analysis category. The five gadgets do not answer this. The blank axis is right here.”

The five gadgets, in other words, had been “single-Worldline tools.”

If we were to build Gadget No.6, it must be the device that overturns that premise.

And so the incident began

The lab director said, quietly:

“Gadget No.6 will be a device that observes parallel Worldlines.”

It was not a decision. It was an incident.

An incident that redefined the five gadgets. An incident that rewrote the laboratory’s premise.

From this morning on, the development of Gadget No.6 began moving at a speed no one could stop.
